5 steps to find the correct shade and translucency level

5 steps to find the correct shade and translucency level

The IPS e.max Shade Navigation App recommends the suitable translucency and shade for each IPS e.max restoration and thus helps you select the right block, ingot or disc. For optimum shade reliability in your daily laboratory or practice routine.

The IPS e.max Shade Navigation App takes all the important factors that influence the overall shade design into account. The interplay of these factors results in the overall shade effect.

How you benefit:

Precise translucency and shade recommendation

Takes into account the 5 most important factors: tooth shade, indication, preparation shade, layer thickness and material. Based on these five pieces of information, you will receive a precise recommendation on translucency and shade.

Visual comparison with A-D shade guide

With the visual shade comparison, you can compare the restoration shade with the A-D shade guide. Any necessary shade correction can be identified in advance.

Efficient and direct comparison with group shades

Shade comparison between different configurations is possible – particularly  helpful when restoring multiple teeth for one patient, e.g. different indications and/or preparation shades in the anterior region.

User-friendly design and free download

The IPS e.max Shade Navigation App is very intuitive and easy to use. It can be downloaded to your iOS device free of charge and used to its full functional extent without any licence fees.

Simply feed the app with information about the corresponding data and it will present you with the best solution – for reliable, relaxed working.

1. Enter the tooth shade

Determine the tooth shade after tooth cleaning and on the non-prepared tooth and/or the adjacent teeth with the help of the A–D shade guide.

2. Enter the indication

Select the desired indication, e.g. veneer, crown.

3. Enter the die shade

Determine the die shade with the IPS Natural Die Material shade guide on the largest, most discoloured area of the tooth stump.

4. Enter the layer thickness

Determine the layer thickness either manually with calipers or digitally by means of the CAD software. Crowns, veneers and copings are measured at the thinnest vestibular point; inlays and onlays at the thinnest occlusal point.

5. Enter the material

Select the desired material: IPS e.max CAD, IPS e.max Press or IPS e.max ZirCAD.

Recommendation for suitable blocks/ingots/discs

The visualization of the result allows you to compare the restoration shade with the A-D shade guide and identify necessary shade adjustments in advance.
