BPS celebrates its anniversary
BPS celebrates its anniversary
Schaan, Liechtenstein - 21 May 2007
Dentists, prosthodontists and dental technicians from 23 countries joined the 10th-year celebration of the BPS System from Ivoclar Vivadent on 4 May. The anniversary was celebrated with a symposium, workshops and an excursion to the Muttersberg in Bludenz/Austria. The international participants enjoyed the different contests, such as teeth throwing, tree-trunk sawing and alphorn playing, and the Austrian buffet afterwards.
Learning from experts – the BPS symposium
The highlight of the celebration was the BPS symposium in the headquarters of Ivoclar Vivadent in Liechtenstein. The symposium was opened by Wolfgang Ruess, Business Unit Manager Removable Prosthetics, who particularly emphasized the importance of removable denture prosthetics throughout the world. Herbert Frick, Head of ICDE technical, outlined the change regarding products and marketing over the past 10 years.
Experts, such as Koji Sato from Asia and Sandra Goergen and Nancy Tomkins from Canada presented a wealth of interesting information from their practice. The availability of Orthotyp tooth moulds for cross and deep bite situations was particularly highlighted. Nina Planitz and Katrin Langer, both product managers, presented the latest products for removable prosthetics and the associated customer service. Marc Northover, the BPS Master from the UK, showed the market potential of removable prosthetics in the UK on the basis of a per capita consumption of fish & chips in the UK in an amusing presentation.
The Iranian BPS Instructor talked about cleaning habits and the way of life of patients and their influence on the oral status before
and during the prosthetic restoration. Subsequently, the German team of BPS Instructors Walter Böthel and Dr. Volker Ulrici gave a
lecture on the registration by means of the UTS 3D Transferbow and its necessity for the fabrication of an implant-supported
The Australian prosthodontists and BPS Instructors Andrew Snelling and Steve McGlynn presented implant prosthetics and trends in the Australian market. Since the trend for implants still shows high growth rates, it was impressively shown that BPS quality prosthetics on implants meets exacting demands.
In the following days, the participants were able to expand their theoretical know-how in workshops on cross and deep bite situations with Sandra Goergen and Nancy Tomkins, on the characterization of teeth and denture base materials with Doris Wohlgenannt and Antonio Ferilli, as well as on implant superstructures with Andrew Snelling and Steve Mc Glynn. At the end of the workshop, the participants received their personal copy of the FormSelector for future support when selecting the tooth mould.
