IPS e.max Cementation and Care
Manifold cementation possibilities
IPS e.max restorations permit flexibility of cementation, since the crowns and bridges can be cemented adhesively, self-adhesively or
conventionally. Inlays, onlays and veneers are adhesively cemented as usual. Depending on the indications, you may choose from the
comprehensive range of Ivoclar Vivadent cementation materials:
Variolink Esthetic
The light- and dual-curing
esthetic luting composite combines exceptional esthetics with ease of use. The Effect shade concept enables a gradual brightening or
darkening of the restoration.
Multilink Automix
The universal luting composite Multilink Automix
offers a broad range of indications. It provides high bonding strength and an excellent durable bond. Together with the primer A/B, the
dentin is sealed and good marginal adaptation is achieved.
Multilink Hybrid Abutment
The new self-curing Multilink Hybrid Abutment was especially developed for the cementation of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic onto
titanium bases (IPs e.max hybrid abutments and IPS e.max hybrid abutment crowns).
SpeedCEM Plus
The self-adhesive, dual-curing luting composite is even easier to use than a conventional cement. At the same time, it offers the
additional advantages of a composite, such as higher bond strength and translucency, as well as lower water solubility.
Vivaglass CEM
The classical self-curing glass ionomer cement is suitable for the cementation of high-strength ceramic materials, such as IPS e.max,
among others. It contains a particularly transparent glass filler for achieving esthetic results.
Etching and silanization
Lithium disilicate (LS2) restorations are generally etched before incorporation! IPS Ceramic Etching Gel (20 s) is used to generate retentive bonding surfaces on all-ceramic restorations in preparation for incorporation. It enhances the bonding effect between the luting composite and the ceramic bonding surface
For adhesive and self-adhesive cementation of IPS e.max lithium disilicate (LS2) restorations, as well as the adhesive cementation of zirconoium oxide (ZrO2), the restorations are silanized using Monobond Plus (60 s). Silanization is not required for the self-adhesive cementation of ZrO2. This also applies to conventional cementation. Monobond Plus (60 s) is a universal single-component bonding agent mediating an adhesive bond between the luting composite (particularly the Variolink and Multilink product lines) and all indirect restorative materials (glass and oxide ceramics, metals, composites, fibre-reinforced composites).
Glass-ceramic restorations are generally etched before they are seated. Monobond Etch & Prime is a new single-component ceramic primer that allows you to etch and silanate glass-ceramic surfaces in one easy step. The need for using hydrofluoric acid is eliminated.
Finding your way with the Cementation Navigation System
The Cementation Navigation System, the popular multimedia application from Ivoclar Vivadent, offers dentists practical orientation and guidance in the selection of the best luting material for each case.
