Expanded shade range for CAD/CAM applications

Ivoclar Vivadent expands the IPS e.max system to include new shades for CAD/CAM applications.

The IPS e.max CAD blocks are available in five additional Impulse shades, and the shade concept for the ZirCAD blocks has been completed with the introduction of the new MO 3 and MO 4 shades.

New Impulse shades
IPS e.max CAD are lithium disilicate (LS2) ceramic blocks featuring a flexural strength of 360 MPa. The existing block concept has been expanded and now includes five Impulse shades. These five materials consist of three Value and two Opal shades. Due to the different brightness values of the three Value blocks, restorations can be optimally integrated into the surrounding tooth structure in terms of their shade. The two Opal blocks allow users to ideally imitate the lifelike opalescent effect which is desired in anterior restorations. These Opal blocks are suitable for the fabrication of veneers and thin veneers in particular.

Optimum shade basis
IPS e.max ZirCAD are yttrium-stabilized zirconium oxide blocks. The shades MO 3 and MO 4 have been added to the range of homogeneously shaded ZirCAD Colour blocks. Crown and bridge frameworks fabricated of ZirCAD Colour blocks do not show a whitish line at the margin between zirconium oxide-based restorations and the gingiva. The shade concept of the IPS e.max ZirCAD Colour blocks is based on that of IPS e.max Press MO and IPS e.max CAD MO. Regardless of the combination of different IPS e.max framework materials, a shade base is achieved which optimally supports the esthetic veneering result. This is a decisive benefit particularly in cases where lithium disilicate material is combined with a zirconium oxide basis by means of the IPS e.max CAD-on technique.

The IPS e.max CAD Impulse blocks will be available in April 2011. The IPS e.max ZirCAD MO 3 and MO 4 blocks will be launched in June 2011.
