Ivoclar Vivadent continues to grow in 2013

Schaan, Liechtenstein – 6 March 2014

Total sales revenues increased to 747 million Swiss francs
In the 2013 business year Ivoclar Vivadent increased its revenues by 14 per cent compared to the previous year.

Global sales revenues for the Ivoclar Vivadent Group totalled 747 million Swiss francs in 2013 (previous year: CHF 658 m). For the first time, the group revenue included the trade sales from Wieland Dental acquired at the end of 2012. The overall sales growth amounted to 14 per cent, of which 10 per cent were gained through acquisitions and 4 per cent through organic growth.

Growth in all markets
In the highly competitive European markets, Ivoclar Vivadent achieved an increase of 1 per cent in local currencies. North America looks back on a more favourable business performance, having achieved an increase of 5 per cent. Similarly, the markets in Latin America (+ 19%) and the Orient and Africa (+ 5%) also reported substantial growth. The Asian/Pacific markets grew by 4 per cent.

Digital workflows – strengthening the competitive edge of customers
The business performance of the individual product categories followed a similar trend as in previous years. The global trend towards efficient digital workflows continued to make inroads in dental practices and laboratories. The demand of patients for highly esthetic restorations has been confirmed. As a result, all-ceramics has again proven to be the fastest growing product category, demonstrating a double-digit growth rate. Clinical prosthetics also grew above average. “Quality, reliability and esthetics are the reasons for the outstanding growth of IPS e.max all-ceramics", says Robert Ganley, CEO of Ivoclar Vivadent AG, "IPS e.max is one of the leading digital chairside and laboratory restorations."

3049 jobs around the world
At the end of 2013, Ivoclar Vivadent employed 3,049 people (full-time equivalents) compared to 2,730 people in 2012. The rise in employees resulted from the acquisition of Wieland Dental and the creation of new jobs by the group’s companies throughout the world.

A view to 2014
"We expect generally improved market growth in 2014”, says Mr. Ganley, “with continued positive trends in all ceramics and new technology composites."

Ivoclar Vivadent will continue to expand its presence abroad in 2014. Over the coming months, offices in Austria, Ukraine and Indonesia will be opened. The extension of the manufacturing plants in Bürs, Austria, and Somerset, USA, will be completed in the course of 2014, after work on these buildings began last year.
