IPS e.max CAD is a lithium disilicate ceramic block. The lithium disilicate ceramic (LS2) is user-friendly and provides esthetic results.
IPS e.max CAD is designed for fabricating esthetic, high-strength single-tooth restorations, such as veneers, inlays, partial crowns and crowns, by means of the efficient CAD/CAM
technology. These restorations may also be conventionally cemented.
The ceramic is milled in a "soft" intermediate state in which it exhibits its characteristic, unusual bluish colour. In this state, the material can be manually adjusted
or cut back in a few quick and easy steps and the fit can be checked.
Subsequently, the material is easily and quickly crystallized at approximately 850 °C / 1,562 °F (20-30 minutes). In this process, IPS e.max CAD acquires its final strength of 360
MPa and the desired esthetic properties, such as tooth shade, translucency and brightness.
IPS e.max CAD blocks are available in three levels of translucency and in two sizes. The LT and HT blocks for full-contour restorations are provided in 16 A-D shades and four Bleach
BL shades. The MO blocks for the layering technique are available in group shades.
Available blocks
These new highly translucent (HT) blocks are used to machine minimally invasive full-contour restorations, for example inlays, onlays and veneers. These restorations are subsequently characterized with staining materials.
These blocks showing low translucency (LT) are suitable for fabricating full-contour partial and full crowns. The cut-back technique and subsequent layering with IPS e.max Ceram produces enhanced esthetic results in anterior restorations in particular.
Because of their high opacity, IPS e.max CAD MO blocks are used to produce frameworks that are placed on vital and slightly discoloured prepared teeth. The frameworks are veneered with IPS e.max Ceram.
